King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is a 2017 fantasy film directed by Guy Ritchie and written by Ritchie, Joby Harold and Lionel Wigram. Loosely based on Arthurian legends, the film stars Charlie Hunnam as the title character, with Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, Jude Law and Eric Bana in supporting roles. Steven Mnuchin, also the current United States Secretary of the Treasury in the Trump administration, was an executive producer of the film.
King Arthur premiered at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on May 8, 2017 and was released in the United States on May 12, 2017, in 2D and RealD 3D. The film received generally negative reviews by critics and was a box office bomb, grossing just $15.4 million in its opening weekend and is projected to lose at least $150 million.
